POWER-GEN Middle East 2008 attracts award winning industry experts
Global Energy Award winner, Dr. Hisham Khatib of Jordan, will be one of the many industry leading guest speakers at the forthcoming POWER-GEN Middle East 2008 conference, taking place in Bahrain from 4th to 6th February 2008.
Dr. Hisham Khatib of Jordan was recently named winner of the World Energy Council's 2007 Global Energy Award at a ceremony during the closing day of the World Energy Council (WEC) in Rome in November.
POWER-GEN Middle East 2008 is the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the power and water industries, where Dr. Khatib will be making the introductory remarks and moderating the opening session of the conference and which sees him play an active role on the Conference Advisory Board.

Leading international speakers to present at POWER-GEN Middle East
POWER-GEN Middle East 2008 is attracting the industries top speakers from around the world, to present at the leading conference and exhibition for the power and water sectors of the Middle East.
From 4th to 6th February 2008, Bahrain will play host to the 12th POWER-GEN Middle East, as it aims to discuss ‘The Challenges of Feeding a Growing Demand’ in a region that is experiencing extraordinary growth in the demand for electricity and water resources.
Corrado Sommariva, Divisional Director of Desalination Department, Mott MacDonald and Chairman of WHO Advisory Panel for drinking water supply for desalination, will mark the beginning of the new Water Track of the conference, with an opening address and a regional overview.
Country Spotlights within the power sector will include Dr Amer M. Al-Swaha, Head of the IPP programme at Saudi Electric Company, who will be covering Saudi Arabia's power sector, and Dr Ahmed Hiyasat, Managing Director of National Electric Power Co. (NEPCO) will be discussing the situation in Jordan.

POWER-GEN Middle East 2008 has announced the preliminary conference programme for the forthcoming event in Bahrain from 4th to 6th February 2008.

POWER-GEN Middle East Technical Tour announced
Al Ezzel is Bahrain’s first independent power station and recently began full commercial operation. It is a $500 million, 950 MW combined cycle plant. Owned and operated by the Al Ezzel Power Company (AEPC), the Al Ezzel power plant will host the POWER-GEN Middle East 2008 technical tour.

POWER-GEN Middle East receives great industry support
The Arabian Company for Water & Power Projects Ltd (ACWA Power Projects) has confirmed its full support of POWER-GEN Middle East 2008, the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the power and water industries, with the Gold Sponsorship of the event.
